Meal Planning 101!

There once was a time when I just went to the grocery store and browsed all the different sections without any specific list or idea of what I’d be cooking. Looking back now I have absolutely NO idea how I made any coherent meals. Well the truth is, I probably didn’t without MULTIPLE trips to the grocery store for odd ingredients or produce I didn’t know we’d need. Does this sound like you? Going to the grocery store, spending 80 bucks and then an additional 25 or so dollars every few days in between for all the “other” stuff. It adds up!

So the main reason this website even exists is because of my passion for plants, of course, but also because I've found a passion in helping others explore the plant-based lifestyle as well! It started with a few friends asking about helping them meal plan and escalated to an Instagram account to attempt to illustrate that, while intimidating at the outset for some, filling our bodies with plants doesn't have to be scary or inaccessible or too expensive.

Meal Prep!

I have to get something off my chest. Here goes: we kind of suck at meal prep around here. I want so badly to just have the routine of spending a couple hours every Sunday getting lots of good stuff ready for the week for ease and convenience and all the stress-free-ness of it. Most of the time, however, I end up just kind of cooking the "batch" stuff when I get around to it at the beginning, sometimes middle, and sometimes even end of the week.

To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow...

I will always remember when we had our first showing of our current home. I loved it from the moment we walked in (even though once we moved in we realized there was A LOT we wanted to change). But the moment we stepped out into the backyard I was sold. The previous owners had built 3 large raised beds and enclosed two of them into the most adorable picket fence. I knew very little about gardening at this point but it just felt right.

Before You Shop...

We typically go grocery shopping on the weekend, with both of our toddlers in tow, you know because we like it to be a peaceful experience...HA. So every Saturday and Sunday I take the time to do some quick "shopping prep" before we head out to get our weekly grocery haul. I find that taking the time to do these quick things cuts down on food waste, saves me time during the week, and prevents doubling up on items. Here are 3 things I do every weekend:
